Teresa and Joe Giudice arrived in court Tuesday morning to plead guilty as part of a plea deal with the prosecutors in their federal fraud case. The couple admitted they were guilty of multiple fraud and tax evasion charges. NorthJersey reports the couple said, “Yes, your honor,” when asked if they wished to plead guilty. The Giudices will be sentenced on July 8th, 2014.
Under the plea agreements Joe “could be sentenced to a minimum of three years but less than four years in prison” and Teresa “would face a term within the range of 21 to 27 months.” Teresa’s lawyer reserved the right to ask the judge for sentencing below the guidelines range, due to her minimal role in the charges and her four daughters.
Reports indicate both Teresa and Joe are likely to serve jail time. After pleading guilty, Teresa released a statement to In Touch Magazine. “Today, I took responsibility for a series of mistakes I made several years ago. I have said throughout that I respect the legal process and thus I intend to address the Court directly at sentencing. I will describe the choices I made, continue to take responsibility for my decisions, and express my remorse to Judge Salas and the public,” the Bravo star said. “I am heartbroken that this is affecting my family, especially my four young daughters, who mean more to me than anything in the world. Beyond this, I do not intend to speak specifically about the case outside of court, at the recommendation of my attorney and out of deference to the Government and our legal system.”
