This week on the Real Housewives of New Jersey, Rosie Pierri and Kathy Wakile were adamant on mending their relationship with their cousin Teresa Giudice and they turned to relationship expert Siggy Flicker to make that happen.
“I just want her back her in my life, and that’s not such a horrible thing,” Rosie told Siggy, who was optimistic she could make that happen. However, Jacqueline Laurita, who was far more familiar with the family’s history, wasn’t so sure things could be mended.
But during a power walk, it was clear Teresa’s relationship with her sister-in-law, Melissa Gorga, was getting stronger than ever. Teresa confided in Melissa that as Joe’s sentencing date approached, he was lashing out at his family. Teresa admitted that Joe had to have a drink everyday in order to sleep at night and that he wouldn’t talk to her about his feelings about going away.
“This is definitely the closest that her and I have ever been,” Melissa told the cameras.
In a romantic turn of events, Jaqueline’s daughter Ashlee Holmes got engaged to her boyfriend, Pete Malleo in Hoboken, overlooking the Manhattan skyline at sunset. She told Pete that the ring Jacqueline helped him pick out was “perfect,” and she wanted to go home and tell her mom the happy news.
“That’s my daughter wearing an engagement ring. It’s so beautiful. It’s so surreal,” an emotional Jacqueline told the camera. Her husband, Chris, however, said, “She’s all yours, Pete,” he laughed. “Good luck.”
Next, Melissa and Siggy convinced Teresa she needed to get away and due to the terms of her probation she couldn’t go very far. So, the ladies were planning a trip to Vermont. Even though Teresa was hesitant to say yes, it seemed the women had her talked into it.
Then Siggy, Jaqueline, and Teresa met for drinks and Siggy tried to convince Teresa to meet with Kathy and Rosie for drinks. Flicker learned just how deep the family issues go. When Jacqueline tried to give Teresa family advice, Giudice put Laurita right in her place, telling her to back off.
“Jacqueline don’t bring up my f*cking family. I don’t want to f*cking hear it,” she told Jac.
Siggy was taken back by Teresa’s strong reaction to the conversation, so Teresa asked Siggy what her family would do if she was ever accused of a crime. Siggy said her family would “never believe” she was guilty.
“OK, I’m looking at you, Jacqueline!” Teresa said. Siggy and Jacqueline continued trying, though, insisting that all Rosie and Kathy wanted was their family back. “They should have thought about that before trashing my family,” Teresa said.
Melissa, Joe Gorga, and Jacqueline headed to visit Rosie, Kathy and her husband, Richie at their new house, but when the subject of Teresa came up again, tempers flared. Joe Gorga argued that his sister didn’t mean any harm but simply couldn’t forget the things the Wakiles had done to her, while Melissa begged not to be put in the middle again, and that’s when Richie made an off-color comment that set Joe Gorga off.
“I know what it is! This is what it is, right here!” he said before planting a big kiss on Kathy. “I love her for 25 f*cking years! I’m a happy f*cking married guy with a beautiful f*cking family and that’s what it is. That’s what is.”
“Richie was trying to say that he loves his wife and Teresa’s husband doesn’t love her. What a dick thing to say,” Melissa explained to the cameras while Rosie yelled at her brother-in-law to “stop.”
“We all know what you just did,” Joe Gorga yelled at Richie. “It’s got to stop!”
Richie apologized and Joe agreed he wanted his sister to sit down with their cousins. Teresa still insisted she didn’t want to meet with them, but when her brother asked her to she finally caved and made him come with her.
Finally, Kathy, Rosie, Teresa and Joe Gorga met up. Kathy began by making it clear that she wanted to “go forward and be a family,” but Teresa stopped her by letting her know that she wanted “to be left alone.”
Teresa explained, “I don’t want to be hurt anymore. Every time I’m around your husband, he’s always got something negative to say.” Kathy admitted Richie had a “cutting way” about him, but that’s the least of their problems.
“I’m tired. I’ve been through a lot and I haven’t heard from you guys,” Teresa continued, adding that she believed her cousins were only coming around again because she was in the spotlight.
“There’s been a lot of turmoil. I want to cut the cancer out, really,” Teresa said. “We’re not cancer,” Kathy replied, while Rosie added that they are all an embarrassment to their parents.
Teresa ended up saying that she didn’t want a relationship with her cousins in the future, but she wished Kathy and Rosie the best and they all agreed that if they ever really needed anything, the door was “always open.”
While leaving the restaurant, Teresa and Joe Gorga both broke down in tears, because it was a sad thing that had just occurred.
