Rich Wakile Tries To Redeem Himself After Harsh Comment About Kathy Being Just A Housewife!

Kathy

Kathy Wakile is taking to her Bravo Blog to discuss the adjustment that had to be made in her marriage when she decided to expand her baking career. Kathy insists her husband Rich is supportive, and that they are in a great place and are growing stronger everyday. Rich also took to Twitter to redeem himself after making a harsh comment about Kathy being just a Housewife!

Kathy writes, “For so many years I was a stay at home mom, wife, homemaker, nurse, bookkeeper, head chef, psychologist, referee, cleaning lady, decorator, plumber, painter, gardener, chauffeur, tutor, best friend, and disciplinarian. Better known as being a MOM. Everything that was included under that umbrella I did and was thrilled to do it. And I still do! I handled everything in the house and Richie took care of everything outside of the house. This was a great arrangement and partnership. Since I loved doing all of these things, it was just second nature to me, and Richie loved doing what he did.

So when Richie and I decided to go forward with my hobby and turn it into a business, we had to go through, as many do, business adjustments. I would have never went forward with this venture unless Rich was 100% on board. But I am lucky — he is so supportive that whenever I have an idea, he acts on it. As a matter of fact, he was constantly pushing me. We made an agreement since he was working from home more that he would allow me to have all creative direction and he would take care of the business and financial decisions. However, I didn’t want to enter into this blindly, and I wanted to understand and know everything that needed to be done, whether it was creative or financial.

Unfortunately, creative and mechanics often clash. Creative people also desire more than what the budget allows, but as with any successful concept, a reality check needs to be part of that creative flow.

Marriage is not any different. For so many years we knew our duties and responsibilities and our rhythm; our marriage ran like a well oiled machine. OK, now pump your brakes because we’ve thrown a monkey wrench into the machine. Not so smooth anymore, huh? Needless to say, we are figuring it all out as we go and we’re just fine, actually, better than just fine. We love each other and are committed to learning, growing, and taking our relationship to an even deeper level. Isn’t that what life is about? No mediocrity for us.”

Rich also took to Twitter after the episode aired to try and redeem himself after the comment he made about Kathy being just a Housewife. “Just want to say that @Kathywakile is a better entrepreneur than I’ll ever be,” he tweeted.

  1. I was offended by Rich’s comment about Kathy being an entrepreneur. What the hell does he do all day? Does he even have a damn job?

  2. I just love Kathy. She’s a patient, patient woman, and her husband seems to challenge that patience all the time. He’s a good guy, he just doesn’t know when to shut his mouth, I think.

  3. I don’t remember what Richie does for a job, but in the case of the box of cannolis, I agree with him.
The more expensive the box and ribbons, the more money they have to charge. When I receive a box
of cookies or something, the first thng I do is put them on a pretty plate.

    1. He co-owns a gas station. I disagree about the box. You want to brand yourself and a fancy box is the way to do it. We all know what a Sprinkles Cupcake Box looks like! If she was just a mom and pops store, I agree, but she is trying to go national. Having her fancy box with yummy desserts delivered as a gift is a treat! Her husband might be a good business man, but he sucks at marketing.

  4. Kathy it takes an adult to accept support from others. Allow your husband to support you. He knows more than you about certain aspects of business. Take his help with gratitude in your heart. It doesn’t make you any less of a woman.

  5. Why did Rich make RACIST comment about Kathy’s sister’s Rosie’s public hair reminding him of a SOUL TRAIN line. Was he saying pubic hair reminds him of black people or calling black people an unflattering genital name.

    1. I don’t think he meant anything other than the Afros people used to wear during the Soul Train years that he was watching. If we cry “racism” about every damn thing somebody says unintentionally, we wear out people’s sensitivity so when an intentionally racial slur eventually won’t get any attention..
