After almost two years, the Real Housewives of New Jersey returned Sunday night and we saw Teresa Giudice return home after serving 11-months behind bars. Needless to say, it was a pretty emotional episode.
Throughout the episode, Melissa and Joe Gorga worried if their request to have Teresa come to their house for Christmas Eve would be approved. Finally, Teresa’s lawyer, James Leonard called Melissa to tell her that the request was approved and sent Melissa a letter that Teresa had written her from prison that included a longtime joke about “sprinkle cookies.”
The Gorgas also struggled with Melissa’s new project of starting her own business, but also their values of maintaining a traditional Italian family.
One person who wasn’t too thrilled about Teresa’s return and a letter she received from Giudice’s lawyer was Jacqueline Laurita. She even compared the letter and their friendship to throwing burning hot coffee in someone’s face.
Jacqueline introduced the two new Housewives, Siggy Flicker and Dolores Catania, to the group. She explained that Dolores has been a longtime friend to her and Teresa and even her sister-in-law’s Caroline and Dina Manzo.
When Laurita threw a Christmas party at her house for everyone, she privately spoke to Melissa about the letter she received from Teresa. They both said they were nervous about what was to come with Teresa’s return. Melissa said she was hoping for a good relationship with Teresa, while Jaqueline didn’t seem sure of what she wanted.
When Teresa’s finally arrived home from prison in the early hours of December 22nd, 2015, she was greeted with big hugs and kisses from her husband Joe and four daughters.
Her oldest daughter Gia seemed the most emotional, and there’s no doubt it touched viewers. Teresa relished in the ‘Welcome Home,’ signs her girls had handmade for her and embraced her husband, because she couldn’t believe she was finally home.
