Good news to report for the Giudice family! Teresa’s husband Joe has been granted more time to submit his opening brief to the U.S. Court of Appeals as he fights his deportation order.
Mr. Giudice was originally supposed to submit his opening brief by June 12, But the “extension of time to file opening brief” that he has been granted now moves that date back to July 15, according to court documents, as reported by the North Jersey Record. The motion was unopposed and granted on June 7.
Giudice was previously granted permission to stay in the United States in May while his deportation case continues. Earlier that month, Joe received support from 27 former immigration judges to remain in the country.
Joe has been fighting to stay in the U.S.A. since a judge ordered in October 2018 that he be deported back to Italy following the completion of his 41-month prison sentence. He appealed the judge’s decision shortly thereafter, but it was denied in April.
Joe has been staying in “a facility in western Pennsylvania, which houses immigration detainees” since he was released from federal prison in March.
