Phaedra Parks Talks About Her Future

After the explosive and controversial reunion of last season of RHOA, Phaedra Parks is moving on with the past and looking towards the future. The biggest obstacle in her near future though is getting her divorce final from Apollo Nida, who is currently serving an 8-year prision sentence for bank fraud and identity theft.

Phaedra spoke with US Magazine and said, “[The divorce] was finalized last year in July so of course that obviously made me assume that I had regained my independence and a new start, so to be placed back into a position where I have to do it all over again … it’s disheartening but it’s a process and I can’t obviously change it.”

The next step according to Phaedra is to speed up the process of getting it done.

“Of course we’ve made some motions that will hopefully speed it up, but it’s basically at the beginning part of the divorce,” she explains.

Phaedra then talks about how emotionally it can take a toll on you.

“Of course it’s very frustrating, it’s very expensive, it’s very emotionally draining and quite time consuming,” she says. “It’s a very difficult process and it’s unfortunate that it was overturned but it is what it is and so I’ll go through the process again and we’ll see what happens this time. Hopefully it won’t take as long as it did the first time.”

Phaedra is also focusing on raising her two boys who both just celebrated birthday’s last month.

“When Apollo left,” Parks explains, “Dylan was barely a year old so he doesn’t really have the recollection of Apollo like Ayden has. Ayden of course has very fond memories of his father so he realizes that he’s in New Jersey, but as far as specifically, Apollo told them, but I don’t think they appreciate really what being incarcerated means, and of course because they are at such a tender age, that’s not something I’m really honing in on.”

Phaedra also mentions that when Apollo gets the chance to call his boys he does. “When he calls, obviously we answer.”

Phaedra also mentions how she is staying busy working on the Phaedra Foundation. “I’m actually going to take the boys with me to camp in Michigan because I want them to just see how other people live, and I want them to be able to appreciate overnight camp as well,” she shares. “We’ll camp out for a week with the Flint campers.”

What do you think of Phaedra’s future? Will you miss her on the show?

I am 30 years-old and a Housewives Superfan! I have watched all of the shows from the beginning and love to write about the ladies in my free time. I am married, a hairstylist by trade, and I'm a dog lover.

I think helping others will give Shady Phae the opportunity to focus on more positive, constructive parts of her personality and hopefully help her evolve into a better person. It was greed and her vengeful Scorpio nature that brought her to the point where she is now, but for the sake of her lovely little boys, my hopes for her is that this very public fall from grace and epic humiliation will refine her into something better for the sake of those children. It’s been said in the urban blogosphere that she will make a return to Housewives to make a proper Dying Swan exit forevermore from the show- replete with an apology (though I don’t know to whom). Part of me hopes that is true so she can get on with the business of rehabbing her reputation, and concentrate on being a positive rather than negative public figure who uses her energy and resources to help those in need, rather than devoting herself to the kind of toxic nonsense that boomerangs itself right back around to you and screws up your life. The children deserve better.

Well said, I think she has it in her I hope!!! To focus on what’s happened and learn that’s it’s easier to be in an environment led by love rather than hate. She was the author of her own demise and therefore she should concentrate on learning from her actions put her caring side (if she has one) into her charitable work and focus on her children from now on. At the moment they’ve both acted in ways that have caused others to be hurt, what kind of example is that to their children. At the age they are now there is a chance to turn things round and so they can learn by example what it means to be a decent human being and not it’s ok to bully, humiliate, slander and be aggressive to those you don’t like then they could end up where their father is right now. I for one do not wish this to happen as they are both beautiful well mannered children at the moment.

I was very surprised when it came out that Phaedra lied. With all she has going for her didn’t she think of her reputation?

I’ve always thought of Phaedra as holding herself in very high regard, even when it was not warranted. She seems to think she is the smartest person in the room and that no one will see though her and no one will call her on her lies. This held true for quite some time so she became more and more confident until it all came crashing down around her. Between the fraud she committed in her divorce proceedings and her role in the lies told about Kandi and Todd, she deserves to be fired from RHOA and perhaps sanctioned by the Georgia Bar, but I don’t think she’ll even consider the possibility that any of this is her own fault.

Very well said Mary! She’s still probably wondering what it is that she did wrong lol. She’s a piece of work

        • Mihh

She is dishonest and empty inside. Hurting others and having no empathy. She is selfish and incapable of being honest
