Lisa Vanderpump On Lisa Rinna: I Needed An Uncomplicated Friendship

Lisa Vanderpump is dishing about receiving a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Fame in her blog this week. Lisa explains why it was such an honor and shares why she wanted to bring Lisa Rinna with her. Vanderpump says she needed an uncomplicated friendship.

Lisa writes, “Hellooo to all of you. It is such a busy time of year. I have been running around like a chicken with its head cut off! I am sure you are all juggling, too.

So as we settle down and watch this week, I realize why I truly enjoyed this episode as it was one that validates my choice to have been immersed in the crazy world of reality, a documentation of some of the most important and poignant moments of my life. Receiving the star was most definitely one of them. A moment when time stands still and you listen to words of appreciation and support from your loved ones, people that took the time to travel two hours and stand in 115 degree heat was something I didn’t take for granted. Their personal journeys that they relayed at dinner made me reflect on why I have stood vociferously in their corner for many years.

I was fortunate enough to have been raised without prejudice of any kind, and I believe my role as a heterosexual woman is an important voice and ally to the gay community.

It really was such an honor to be awarded with the Star on the Walk of Stars. Palm Springs has been so good to me. I have received the Icon award, the key to the city, and the grand marshal of the Christmas parade, and it is mostly due to my indomitable support of the gay community over the years. It is a city where people can safely walk hand in hand, regardless of their sexual preference, and for that, I am thankful. That is a city and a world I would like to live in.

My reticence to have Max’s girlfriend come and spend the couple of days with us was one I question: Should I have invited her? The rest of the family were adamant that it was too early. It was a relationship I was most certainly not familiar with and was hardly encouraging as she was thirteen years older than him and worked for me at SUR. I felt her life was in a very different place to his and did not want to encourage that. However, she spent the weekend with us in Palm Springs this weekend and their rocky relationship, one that has been confusing to him and has continued, so time will tell, but it has come to a place where if I want to stay close to my son, I have to accept it.

So back to the matter at hand…

This was quite early in the season, and I had barely interacted with any of the women: briefly at the white party, a couple of lunches, that was it. So the decision to invite Lisa Rinna was an obvious one. We had seen each other for lunch, Harry was out of town with the girls, and she was, as always, her supportive, enthusiastic self, and I loved having her by my side. I often find that the way you feel about a friend is largely dependent on how they make you feel. Well Miss Rinna is a wonderfully positive person, and I needed an uncomplicated friendship at a time that was, in all honesty, a little daunting and somewhat overwhelming.

Seeing Yolanda struggle to come to terms with Bella’s DUI was understandable. I felt for her as the severity of the situation really outweighs the action. It is a careless action often with dire consequences, and I know that a lesson was well learnt from that experience, but then couple it with the history of losing your father at a tender age has to be even more emotionally challenging. It tugged at my heart strings as she tried to hold it together.

Kim’s daughter Brooke getting married was a lovely moment to savor, and I totally understood feelings of pride and joy as she relinquished her daughter to the arms of her chosen man, but luckily for Kim as not so often with others, she adores him.

The importance of that relationship as two families intertwine is paramount. We were so lucky with Jason, and I appreciate that every time we are all together, I gained a son.

Happy to see Eileen integrating into the cast. I have such admiration for the dedication to her work. Fifty pages a day! Can hardly remember my own name some days.”

  1. She wouldn’t know friendship if it smacked her in the face. She has had issues with every women on the show, in the past, other than Carlton, and not everyone can wrong. I thought it was very telling to see her dinner in that episode. It was mostly people that work for her.

Also, how come in 5 seasons we have not seen Lisa with a female friend? (Shiva doesn’t really count as they’re friends because of Mohammed. I’ve never felt a close connection when they film ether). It’s quite obvious she’s a big part of the problem. I’m so tired of her passive aggressive jabs at the other women too. She needs a new storyline cause she is becoming stale.

    1. Funny since smacking her in the face is exactly what happens with one former friend this season. Perhaps that is why she is reticent about some of these women. She has every reason to be, especially with that trashbox Brandi

    2. There is a difference between showbiz and actual life. I would keep my non tv friends sheltered from all the drama too. And really who needs many friends? She has a great husband, a few friends, family and her work. Sounds perfect to me.

    3. TOA you’re the only person who can see through Lisa’s bullshit. I think you’re my new best friend. That pathetic & tacky legend in her own mind is still crying about Puerto Rico. She’s abt as stale as dollar store crackers.

  2. You are obviously very impartial, right…

Because Kyle had no isssue with anyone (Kim, Yolanda, Camille, Brandi, Lisa…), Brandi had no issues with anyone (Adrienne, Kyle, Kim, Lisa, Taylor…), Kim had no issues with anyone (Lisa, Kyle, Yolanda, Brandi…) and so on…

  3. i’m sure lisa has many friends. just not many loyal friends in this bunch. she even took the time to get to know carlton and joyce. i think it broke lisa’s heart when she found out that the other women had been talking about her behind her back, even kyle. and again with brandi

    1. Yes I agree anab4 she did seem very upset- you could see it all over her face and I think it was legit. And as far as I could tell she WAS surrounded by friends. It looked like a quaint intimate dinner with a few family and friends. I certainly don’t invite everyone I know to everything I do…do you?

  4. It’s obvious that apart from the show, and the pack of jelly women, led at times by Vyle Kyle or Trashy Brandi, that Lisa is well loved by many. Who else is surrounded in nightclubs and getting awards and accolades? (Plus she IS Andy’s favorite RHOBH Housewife! 😉 ) more significantly, why are Kyle, Yolanda and ESPECIALLY Brandi trying so damn hard to be her friend?

  5. That said, I love the friendship between the Lisa’s. Lisa R is a SECURE woman, with a fantastic sense of humor, who doesn’t take herself so damn seriously – much like Lisa V. Maybe it’s because they are both beautiful, successful, happily married women in loving relationships, they don’t have any snarky, jealous or shady vibes between them. It’s very refreshing to see. Eileen seem to give off this same vibe. Hopefully so, then there can be a new “Dream Team” of witty, irreverent, intelligent broads who have fun TOGETHER!

  6. Lisa V., was wise not to bring the pack of wolves (otherwise known as uber jealous) HW’s with her. They are all jealous and want to be Lisa V., with her fame, success, happiness in home, family and business—the other’s are wannabe losers riding BEHIND Lisa.
Both vyle & trampon tried to attack and bring down Lisa V., and what did it get them? They are both idiots with their tails between their legs like most bitches……
