Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards has been through a lot in the past few months. After her sobriety was questioned during the last season of the show she was arrested in April for public intoxication and other charges, did an interview with Dr. Phil that lead to her walking off, and having constant concern of her status in rehab. Now that Kim has been over thirty days sober, she spoke with Entertainment Tonight about her sobriety and experience in treatment.
“I love sobriety. I’ve always loved sobriety, and relapsing was very hard for me. It was not easy. I have to say, don’t take this wrong, but I really wanted to go to treatment because I needed a break from what I was going through at home.”
Viewers saw during the show that Richards was going through a lot in her personal life, and she shared that with ET’s Nischelle Turner in the interview. “Monty, my ex husband, is very sick and my son wasn’t well. And I had to give away my dog, and I wasn’t talking to my sister Kyle.
Richards did in fact complete treatment for thirty days in a facility and is looking back on it as a positive experience. “I went in and I got to learn a whole lot about myself. I dug deep into my past, things that happened to me as a child, good and bad, teenage years, relationships with all my loves ones, where they need to be managed, where they’re very powerful. I worked on me.”
Turner then asked about Richards’ arrest and if it were a ‘a-ha’ moment for her, Kim said, “Actually, my arrest was my ‘a-ha I get to go away now and rest and take a break from all of this’. I don’t want anybody to take this wrong, but I truly needed a break from hospitals, family, and the pressure. I needed to go away.”
