Kandi Burruss: I Never Wanted This to Be Seen On RHOA

Kandi Burruss is opening up about why she broke down while talking to Sheree Whitfield about Riley’s father Block in a new interview with Bravo. Burruss also reacts to the news that Porsha Williams hooked up with her ex and what went through her head when Kris Kelli showed up at her place of business.

Bravotv.com: What went through your mind when Kris Kelli showed up at the Kandi Factory?
Kandi Burruss:
I was wondering what the hell was she doing there. I haven’t seen her in some years, so it was odd for her to just stop by. We’ve only met a few times. I have nothing bad to say about her, but I didn’t know what her intentions were. For the last few years Block and I haven’t really talked that much at all. So for his artist to just pop up out of the blue was strange to say the least. I didn’t even know they were an official couple. When I met her, I knew her as his artist. So it was really weird to me that she was trying to show so much concern for his relationship with Riley… She was really nice about it. So I was trying to be nice even though I didn’t feel Block and Riley’s relationship was a conversation I should’ve been having with her.

Bravotv.com: How did you find out that Porsha used to be involved with your ex?
Both Porsha and Block told me on separate occasions. It’s no big deal. She hooked up with him after me. She and I have had a full discussion about it.

Bravotv.com: Why did you break down while talking to Sheree about Riley and her dad?
It’s an emotional subject for me. My daughter is special to me. I never wanted her not to have a real father figure, but Block for whatever reason has never really stepped up to be the father Riley deserves. He’s always been very flaky. He’ll call and say he’s going to do better and then you don’t hear from him for months at a time. Riley used to be sad about it, but now she’s just over it. I honestly never wanted this to be seen on the show. I hate the whole baby daddy/baby mama drama, but here he comes out of nowhere with this bullsh–… It tripped me out to hear Kris Kelli say to Lena and RL that we’ve been blocking Block out. I was like, “What???!!!” He’s clearly been giving her some bogus story.

  1. just hard to believe that some “stranger” walks into the private area of an office building. Does that mean any obsessed fan can do the same? Who is manning the front desk? Basically, this was “unreality” Reality TV working for Bravo cameras.

    1. As a person who has pooched through Atlanta here and there, allow me to explain. It’s not a formal office structure. Like many creative spaces all over the place, Paris, New York, Hamburg, Miami Beach. It’s a revamped industrial/commercial space warehouse. Before the advent of 24/7 tabloid tv coverage, unless you were an artist on a global level (think industrial spaces like Prince’s Paisley Park) these spaces have generally been very open, because no one has been interested in checking them out. It’s not unusual at all, but due to the way things are being shown on tv, things will probably change. Anyway, let’s wait for the episode. There’s a lot of manipulation going on in Atlanta with people who contact production companies or the friends of friends appearing on the show to suddenly show up and claim their big tv moment in Maury Pauvich/Jerry Springer ambush style…then the next thing you know they are advertising themselves as “tv personalities” , “as seen on”….it’s a bottom feeder syndrome and it’s long been getting out of control

  2. I felt Kandi’s pain when she talked about her daughter not having her dad in her life for all these years. Kandi has always been my favorite on this show. She is the only one who comes across as real and honest to me.

  3. Love Kandi! My favorite. It upset me to see her cry. That girlfriend needs to mind her own business. Kandi doesn’t owe her any explanation and should of thrown her out of HER and Todd’s house!

  4. Landing handled the guest pop situation very well. I think the only reason why she showed up was to get in front the camera. She lied, Riley was not her concerne. As for Block he’s a lost cause and should be ashamed for lack of responsibility tricks and turns a grown ass man who has not been the father that he is well capable of being but chooses not to be.
