Cary Deuber is taking to her blog to share her thoughts about this week’s episode of RHOD. Deuber wonders how she got mixed up with the poop joke and thinks the charity event was not that big of a deal. She also weighs in on Stephanie reaching out to LeeAnne behind Brandi’s back.
“Thanks so much for having us back in your homes again this week!!
In one of the opening scenes I’m doing a tattoo. In case you’re wondering, it’s for one of our breast reconstruction patients. Reconstruction is much more complicated than augmentation. It takes multiple surgeries and procedures to get to the finish line. The nipple tattoo is the final procedure. It puts pigment back into the areola that we make in a prior surgery to try to restore as natural looking a result as possible.
Shortly after that, I’m back in my kitchen with Mark cooking dinner. (What can I say, he’s artsy and creative; he loves to cook!) My baby girl Zuri is with us and she is absolutely the light of my life. I wasn’t sure I wanted kids. Your world changes so much when you have children, and Mark had two children so our lives were already family centric. I actually realized that I wanted to have my own kids because of my amazing step children. They taught me how true unconditional love can exist. It’s through having children. It was actually a struggle for me to get pregnant. I had to have surgery to have fibroid tumors removed and wasn’t sure I would be able to get pregnant. The lessons I learned from both my step children and my own child are invaluable. I wear a lot of hats in my life. I try very hard to hold everything together and give 110% to everyone and everything. It is a lot and there are many days that I feel overwhelmed. Still, we’re so lucky we can keep the “glamour” in our lives through our love for each other, our family and our love of travel.
The next moment in the episode that really struck me was Stephanie admitting to Brandi that she wrote an apology email to LeeAnne about the conflict at the no-tie dinner. I’m sure Stephanie was a little nervous to send that to LeeAnne and also pretty nervous to tell Brandi what she did. Clearly, Brandi and LeeAnne just need to agree to disagree. They are totally different people with completely different opinions. LeeAnne’s telling of her “story” at the HIV fundraiser is still bizarre to me to this day; nevertheless, she stands by her telling her “story” at events as helpful to people even if it has nothing to do with the charity. Stephanie is a fixer and hates conflict. I get it. If it were me, I would have stayed out of it, but she was trying to patch it up. Stephanie is so sweet; she even hates conflict for her bestie.
The bulk of this episode was about the Mad Hatters Luncheon supporting the Dallas Arboretum. This is actually the first time I’ve been able to go. As a career woman, it is hard for me to find time to eat lunch let alone go to a three hour luncheon. I usually just make a financial contribution or buy a ticket to support a friend and donate the seat. It probably would be good for our business to rub elbows with a lot of women at events like this and pass out business cards, LOL!! Sometimes women will see me and remember they need to come in for Botox or for a follow up after breast surgery; but, that’s about the extent of the networking I might do.
As LeeAnne said, this IS a “treasured event” that happens every spring. The tulips are in full bloom and much of Dallas Society attends to show off their “fun” (as in kinda ridiculous) hats – Just take a look at LeeAnne’s hat from last year to get an idea of what the ladies might be wearing.
Brandi is a very fun spirited girl. The theme this year was Springtime in Paris. She figured in Paris the flowers would be in full bloom and people would be out with their dogs in the parks. Why not make a hat that looks like a park, put a dog on it; and of course, dogs poop in parks. Makes perfect sense. There is never a dull moment with her!
Why did I get mixed up with the poop? Like I said, I don’t generally go to luncheons and I’m not much of a day drinker unless I’m on vacation. I was starting to get bored and needed some excitement. Brandi was going to put the poop in someone’s handbag; but the “turd” probably wouldn’t have been found for two weeks until they switched handbags. I put it out there in the open for instant gratification! I thought it would make light of the whole “poop hat” thing and everyone would get a good laugh and move on!! I guess it was my way of trying to make the girls that were judging Brandi see that she was just being silly. I don’t regret it. And I’d do it again. Lighten up LeeAnne…It’s a charity event, not open heart surgery.”
