Caroline Manzo Gushes Over Becoming a Grandma

Caroline Manzo is reacting to the news that she is going to be a grandma for the first time! That’s right, her daughter Lauren just announced the news that she is pregnant with her first child.

So does Caroline think her daughter is ready? “You’re never ready to be a parent. You never put down on paper and say, ‘You know what? Now’s good. Let’s do it now,’ because you will never be ready because you are never prepared for how your life is gonna change,” she told the Daily Dish. “After having said that, do I think they’re capable of raising a child in the best way that you would hope? Absolutely. They both have wonderful qualities about them. They’re very nurturing. Vito’s gonna be a phenomenal father. Lauren, of course, is gonna be a great mom. Are they gonna stumble and fall sometimes is a guarantee because I think every new parent does. But I think that it’s gonna be really fun to watch. It’s gonna be really, really fun to watch.”

Even though this season on Manzo’d it looks like Lauren and Vito have concern over getting pregnant, Caroline says she never put any pressure on them. “Oh, gosh, for me, it was always when God’s will, that’s when she was gonna have a baby,” she said. “I never said to her, ‘I want a grandchild.’ I never, never said that to her because when it happens, it happens.”

But her husband Al was ready to become a grandfather! “When you see ‘grandpa’ in a dictionary, [Al’s] picture will be there because this is something he’s talked about our entire married life,” Caroline said. “You know, ‘When are we having grandchildren? Are we having grandchildren?’ He’s very, very proud. He doesn’t want to allow himself to get excited until he knows that she’s OK and the baby’s OK.”

Caroline said her husband has already started calling her ‘Grandma.’ “Listen, it’s life. It’s a beautiful thing. I’m getting older. Guess what? It’s happening. It’s hitting the fan,” Caroline, who turned 55 in August, said. “So it’s part of our story. It’s part of what we’re supposed to be doing. I’m glad to be able to be alive and see my kids grow and start families and meet my grandchildren. So if grandma is the worst I’ve got to deal with, call me ‘Grandma,’ it’s fine.”

And she already has an idea of the grandma she wants to be. “I just don’t want to be the grandma that sits in the chair and is not able to enjoy her grandchildren,” she said. “I want to be a badass grandma. So I’m working on it.”

“[Albie and Chris Manzo] are over the moon. They can’t wait,” Caroline said. “This baby is a very lucky baby because the Scalias are even such wonderful people. It’s a very, very lucky baby.”

I am ten years older then Caroline and a) look younger and b) look more feminine! What is she doing to herself. It must be all the time she spends shaving her face! If she lost 30lbs it might help.

Suze, couldn’t agree more with your comments. Caroline is NOT going to let anything jeopardize this grandchild. She will be in the “thick” of things as evidenced by her gushing. I have no doubt that she will be meddling from now on. Good luck Lauren & Vito, you are going to need it with Caroline around! Oh and Suze, I am 20 yrs. older than Caroline and I look younger and more feminine that she does on my worst days! You go girl.

Good for you I bet you are hot looking! Xoxo

Not sure about the “hot” part. My mousey brown hair that used to be blonde is now looking pretty shabby. Tried coloring it myself and had disasterous results. Not sure what went wrong, but something sure did! Hugs to you Suze.

Awwwww that’s great news!!! I love being a grandmother and I think it’s one of the very best blessings. I don’t like Caroline’s new hair. It does make her look very masculine and really only makes her look older. I was thinking in this Season that she’s gained back a little of her weight but really overall, I think she still looks good. I’m one who struggles with weight issues and have all my life so from my perspective I would be happy with her body.

Me too Michelle. Plus, I am diabetic, so keeping the weight down is an absolute must. Now, that is easier said than done! Unless it is affecting your health, don’t sweat the small stuff and enjoy life sweetie. We only get to grab the brass ring once, so make the most of it.
