Former Real Housewives of New York Star Bethenny Frankel is speaking out about her divorce in an interview on Ellen. Jason Hoppy has remained silent about his split from Bethenny, but Bethenny didn’t hold back when she appeared on Ellen Wednesday. “I feel like a bit of a disappointment to all of you and I feel like a failure,” Bethenny sobbed, telling the audience and Ellen. “I really put it out there. I wanted the fairytale, and I thought I had it,” she added.
“I can’t just only be on reality TV and show everything when it’s fairy princess, fairytale,” she added, referring to the backlash from the media and fans, “I thought I had it. And Bryn is my fairytale …” Ellen went on to defend Bethenny saying that even though everyone has watched her life play out on TV, we don’t REALLY know what goes on behind the cameras. Bethenny added that she had recently been to Ellen’s home, sobbing, and Ellen explains she knew how bad Bethenny wanted to make her marriage work.
“You know everything and one day you don’t know. The truth is, I wanted to rip the Band-Aid off so it could start to heal …So I’m scared. I’m older. And I want to be able to say to people … It’s about what I do now … I never thought I’d be a role model but I think to some people I am or have been.”
After filing for divorce and requesting full custody of the couple’s daughter, Bryn, Bethenny tells Ellen, “This is an important time because it’s about what I do next. How I handle myself now with grace, with dignity. Now is the time that matters.”
Despite her divorce, Bethenny is still a believer. “Love is everywhere. It’s the road and you’re on it. It has peaks and valleys, and that’s what it is, but I don’t know how people go through this because this is excruciating,” she said.
