Andy Cohen is an Emmy Award-winning host, producer, and author best known as the host and executive producer of â€œWatch What Happens Live,â€ Bravoâ€™s late night, interactive talk show. Â The series is the only live show in Late Night, and features everyone from â€œBravolebritiesâ€ to big names in pop culture, including Oprah Winfrey, Cher, Lady Gaga, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lopez, Will Ferrell, and Jimmy Fallon. He also serves as executive producer of â€œThe Real Housewivesâ€ franchise and hosts the networkâ€™s highly rated reunion specials. In 2014, Details Magazine called the show, â€œcompulsively engrossing,â€ while touting Cohen as a â€œgenius;â€ possibly â€œthe smartest man on TV;â€ GQ describes â€œWatch What Happens Liveâ€ as â€œthe most primitively authentic ting on televisionâ€ and TV Guide thinks itâ€™s late nightâ€™s â€œunlikeliest success story.â€
This fall, Cohen launched â€œRadio Andy,â€ a personally curated channel on SiriusXM focused on pop culture, celebrities, lifestyle, relationships and the dish on all topics deep and shallow. The channel is a fun, uncensored entertainment and talk destination with celebrity hosts including Cohen, who will have daily and weekly shows on air.
In November 2014, Cohen became a New York Times best-selling author for a third time with the release of his latest book, â€œThe Andy Cohen Diaries: A Deep Look At a Shallow Yearâ€ published by Henry Holt. Cohen achieved similar success with both the hardcover (May 2012) and the paperback (May 2013) versions of his first book, titled, â€œMost Talkative: Stories from the Frontlines of Pop Culture.â€
In his ten years as an executive at Bravo he was responsible for an aggressive slate of unscripted series and specials including hits such as “Project Runway,â€ â€œTop Chef,â€ â€œQueer Eye,â€ “The Millionaire Matchmaker,â€ â€œMillion Dollar Listing,â€ Â â€œBeing Bobby Brown,â€ â€œShahs of Sunset,â€ â€œFlipping Out,â€ â€œTop Design,â€ â€œWork Out,â€ â€œMake Me a Supermodel,â€ â€œBlow Out,â€ â€œKathy Griffin My Life On the D List,â€ â€œThe A List Awardsâ€ â€œThe Rachel Zoe Project,â€ â€œWork of Art: The Next Great Artist,â€ â€œBethenny Ever After,â€ â€œTabathaâ€™s Salon Takeover,â€ and â€œThe Real Housewivesâ€ franchises. Â Cohen started at Bravo in 2004 as Vice President, Original Programming and most recently, Cohen served as Bravoâ€™s Executive Vice President of Development and Talent from November 2011 to January 2014.
Cohen received an Emmy award when season six of â€œTop Chefâ€ won Outstanding Reality Competition Program at the 2010 primetime Emmy awards Â and Â has been nominated for 17 additional Â Emmy Awards as Executive Producer of â€œProject Greenlight,â€ â€œProject Runway,â€ â€œTop Chefâ€ and â€œQueer Eye.â€ In 2005, Cohen was awarded a Peabody Award for his role as Executive Producer of the TRIO documentary â€œThe N Wordâ€ and another in 2008 as an Executive Producer of â€œProject Runway.â€
Cohen ran Original Programming and Development for the pop culture and arts cable channel TRIO, beginning in July 2000. He was responsible for developing and supervising all of TRIO’s original productions including the critically acclaimed original documentaries â€œGay Republicans,â€ â€œEasy Riders/Raging Bulls,â€ and â€œBrilliant, But Cancelled.â€ Â He spent ten years (1990-2000) as a producer at CBS News, working on â€œCBS This Morningâ€ and â€œ48 Hoursâ€.
In June of 2013 he was named to Fast Companyâ€™s 100 Most Creative People in Business List. In December of 2012 GQ Magazine named Cohen one of the 25 Best Dressed Men of the Year. Â In 2012 he was chosen as one of Broadcasting & Cableâ€™s â€œDigital All-Starsâ€ and in 2010, he was listed as one of TV Guideâ€™s â€œ25 Most Influential People in Television.â€
Born in St. Louis, Cohen is a graduate of Boston University where he received a B.A. in broadcast journalism.
