Andy Cohen Says Teresa Giudice Deserves a Second Chance

Teresa Giudice seems to be making a comeback after serving an 11 and a half month prison sentence. She appeared in several interviews, wrote a book about her time in prison and is returning for a seventh season of the Real Housewives of New Jersey. While some may argue that the mother of four should not return to the show and send a lot of hate and aggression, boss Andy Cohen sees it in a different light.

Andy shared on Monday morning that Teresa would appear on Watch What Happens Live last night and wanted to capture the real reaction to seeing her for the first time since leaving for prison.

“I am going to see her for the first time. I was emailing with my producers yesterday and I said, ‘You know what? I think I want to see her tomorrow night for the first time live on the air.’ So I think I’ll not say hi to her before the show. I want to bring her out and just see her, have that real moment play out.”

There was a lot of gossip circling around when the ladies of New Jersey would be filming again and who would be joining the cast. Andy clarified when they started shooting and reveled he had a secret meeting with Giudice before she left for prison.

“We were shooting when Teresa left Danbury, when she got home, we’ve been shooting for the last few months. The last time I saw her on television was at the Jersey reunion, which was like a year and a half ago. The last time I saw her in person, we had a little top-secret lunch about 10 days before she went to prison. I went out to New Jersey and we had a very late lunch. And I have not seen her in person since that day. It was very emotional saying goodbye to her.”

Andy then concluded by supporting the RHONJ veteran by stating:

“Say what you want about Teresa and what she has done, what I say is she paid her time. And some would argue that she got way more time than she would have gotten had it not been such a high profile case. The woman has served her time and she is paying back her debt to society and the government and I think that like everyone Teresa deserves a second chance.”

  1. This is probably the first time I have agreed with Andy Cohen! He has his favourite HW’s in each franchise and Tre has never been one. It was always Caroline on NJ. I could never understand that! (Sorry Bee!) looks like Kyle is on BH. These are always ones he is never hard on and the ones he goes really hard on. Lisa VP, Brandy, Teresa and I can’t be bothered to think,of the others!! It’s too early here! Again I want to give her another chance but one thing I will never understand is the level of hate on here. hey ho!

  2. I do believe in second chances. For those that are truely remorsefull, its absolutely fair play. For those who are only spouting rote apologies for the sake of forgiveness or acceptance or $$$, not so much. I don’t watch RHONJ any more but I have seen enough of how Teresa has changed since the first season. If this had come up a few years ago, I may have thought she was genuinely sorry, but not now.

    1. I agree that SOME people deserve a second chance…Teresa isn’t one of them. She never takes responsibility for anything she does and doesn’t seem remorseful at all. Why is Andy bringing her back? Ratings of course. But he is choosing ratings over being ethical. I love Andy and the Housewives franchise but I’m so over Teresa therefore I will no longer be watching NJ.

  3. I just bought her book on Amazon. Gee, only $15.98. I would love to have it signed. She looks different and I actually understand why she won’t say what she did. Because her words will live in infamy, mainly about her husband if she did. I don’t really care. I watch the show for the parts I enjoy, and zip the parts I don’t. On every franchise. I zip Melissa and her husband. Can’t stand either of them.

  4. Rewarding bad behavior is stupid and bad for society let her fight her way back like everyone else who screws up has to. Seriously she has not learned one bit from what she did she still blames everyone else.

    1. That’s exactly how I feel! She did something bad, spent under a year in jail as a punishment, and now is more famous and richer than ever. It’s like she’s being financially rewarded for doing something bad.

  5. A second chance is for those that admit their mistakes, own the, pay for them and show remorse. Though she has paid restitution, I feel she hasn’t done any of these. She has and continues to blam others for everything. The only part she has admitted is to signing papers unknowingly. Could have been a few times, I’ll give her that, but we’re talking $13 million dollars. Everything they own was from fraud. They were hiding assets from the court and even the judge felt there was no remorse, which is why she received a jail sentence. Now, she writes a book which is based on all our crime. Of course Andy stands behind her, he’s all about his ratings.

    1. VaNonna, I totally agree with you. And I agree that SOME people deserve a second chance…Teresa isn’t one of them. She never takes responsibility for anything she does and doesn’t seem remorseful at all. Why is Andy bringing her back? Ratings of course. But he is choosing ratings over being ethical. She is a fake and a fraud and we are fueling this person by supporting the Housewives of NJ and buying her books. I love Andy and the Housewives franchise but I’m so over Teresa therefore I will no longer be watching NJ.

  6. Oh, Hell no! Don’t punish the rest of us, Andy! If you want to give her a second chance hire her as your tax accountant or financial advisor. Don’t make us have to look at her or hear her.

    1. DebBren, this is said with all due respect I don’t like Kenya so I don’t watch ATL! So for anyone who doesn’t like Tre the option is obvious!

  7. What kills me is putting restrictions on second chances. It’s like when a poster says we all have the right to our own opinion, then goes off on the WAY the opinion is expressed. Or WHEN the opinion is written about. It’s like a crime to some to go back further than the current page to finish something. We all don’t come to realizations at the same moment, we don’t finish our part of a discussion at the same moment, and we all don’t repent in the way others believe we should. Everyone, including Theresa, has their reasons for doing anything and everything in the way they do it.

  8. Andy, if you are reading this…please do not bring Teresa back. One thing is if she said something wrong, or reacted badly in a situation or something along this line. But, this is different. She committed a crime. I know ratings mean everything in your line of work but take the high road on this one otherwise I believe you will lose a lot of loyal viewers.
